Fancy of walking and meeting new people? Join our Connect Walking Club in Groningen!

Every Sunday at 14:00 we walk for 1-2 hours in green areas and often end up having a cup of coffee.

We visit green areas, parks around Groningen and once a month we go to a neighbouring village or province.

Please provide your WhatsApp and/or phone number so we will be able to contact you in case of cancellations or any other changes.

Covid-19:

The Dutch government has stated that Corona entry passes are required from 6 November 2021 for indoor sports, artistic and cultural activities. Connect International, as a club organizer has to adhere to this rule. Please have in mind to come prepared with a Corona entry pass and ID to some of our events. (Outdoor amateur sports excluded: our Running Club, Walking Clubs are exempt from this requirement).

If you need to have the validity of your vaccination certificate transferred to the Netherlands, please call +31 (0)30 800 2899 (GGD Utrecht) for an appointment in Groningen. In case you encounter any problems with the code, contact GGD regio Utrecht. They are open daily between 09:00-17:00 and provide information in English. (You can also show your international vaccination certificate to us).

If you need a proof of a Corona test, you can make an appointment by visiting: https://www.testenvoortoegang.org (there is an option for the website in English) The test is free. Consider the timing of the test as it is only valid for 24 hours. You can find the option in English and you can get tested at a location in the vicinity. You should receive the results within two hours with a code that allows you to upload the results to your Corona Pass.

Currently a face mask is a personal decision at some locations. However a volunteer can require it for an event being hosted in a public place or if the event is held in their own house. We ask that you please respect this. Masks are still required in public transportation.

Keeping a 1.5m distance is an important rule which we all must adhere to. Please take also into account:

Cough and sneeze into your elbow.
Use paper tissues to blow your nose and discard them after use.
Do not shake hands or greet with kisses.
Stay at home if you have mild cold-like symptoms, such as a sore throat, a runny nose, sneezing, a mild cough or a fever above 38 degrees Celsius. (Even if you are vaccinated).
If you have symptoms, you can get tested to see if you are infected with coronavirus (Even if you are vaccinated)

“I came to live here in Leeuwarden approximately 2 years ago. I had heard about Connect International while I was following a Dutch language course at Groningen University. I made use of the excellent helpdesk at the Groningen office. As a British National I wanted to clarify some issues regarding my status post Brexit!. Within hours the Connect office had contacted the Dutch Immigration Office and reassured me about my situation. Sadly because I live in Leeuwarden I did not make use of the social elements of Connect which took place mainly in Groningen. So when I learned about the Leeuwarden branch I immediately began attending the Friday and Sunday coffee mornings. These provide a great opportunity to meet other newcomers and to share information and the occasional worry. Everyone is made to feel welcome and discussions range free and wide. I have got to know a range of interesting and friendly people from all over the world, via Connect International Leeuwarden. I have also learnt about many of the social and cultural activities taking place in this great town. If you have recently come to live in Friesland, I can recommend Connect International Leeuwarden as a terrific means of quickly settling in and getting to know a range of people who can offer support and advice.”
