CNH Book Club - 20 Nov
Where: Home of Anne de Graaf-Bridges, Sint Pancras

"Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" by Paul Torday

This is the story of Dr. ALfred Jones, a fisheries scientist for whom diary-notable events include the acquisition of a new electric toothbrush and getting his article on caddis fly larvae published in "Trout and Salmon"- who finds himself reluctantly involved in a project to bring slamon to the Highlands of the Yemen - a project that will change is life, and the course of British political history forever.  With a wickedly wonderful cast of characters - including a visionary Sheikh, a weasely spin doctor, Fred's devilish sife and few thousand transplanted salmon - Salmon Fishing is a novel about hypocrisy and bureaucracy, dreams and deniability, and the transforming power of faith and love.

Book Club: Come and discuss your favorite books and authors at our friendly, informal book club.  We aim to meet every two months (to fit in with our busy lives) and have plans to embrace a wide range of genres, from classics to crime, historical novels to bestseller, fiction to autobiographies and beyond.

Book Exchange: Can't afford your book habit?  We have the solution!  At our burgeoning Book Exchange, you can lend and borrow some great titles from other members.  Bring in up to 4 books you are burning to share with the group.  Ann also has a stock of second-hand books.  As a sort of private library, we'll keep a record of all borrowings!
